OpenAI notified developers on 14 Oct 2026 that these models will be removed from the API on 14 Jan 2027: GPT-4o (gpt-4o-2024-08-06, gpt-4o-2024-11-20), GPT-4o mini (gpt-4o-mini-2024-07-18), GPT-4.1 (gpt-4.1-2025-04-14) and GPT-4.1 mini (gpt-4.1-mini-2025-04-14). The page recommends gpt-6-luna as the replacement for all four. Fine tuned versions follow the same date as their base model. The same page also lists text to speech models on 6 Jan 2027, legacy audio and realtime models on 20 Jan 2027, and whisper-1 and the GPT-4o transcribe models on 26 Feb 2027.
